The Consulting Company for Railway Operating Systems Ltd. (IBS) was founded in 1994. 

Since then well-known national and international railway companies are relying on IBS´ plans, reports and software developments particularly for:

• simulation of railway networks 

• design and verifikation of timetable concepts 

• calculation of track systems and vehicles 

• maintenance-site timetable design systems 

• planning of maintenance works 

• optimization of vehicle disposition and rostering 

• running time calculation and energy consumption

IBS' employees are interdisciplinary teams of engineers and programmers with sophisticated know-how in railway operation, consulting and software development.The infrastructural and operational plannings are carried out with software solutions especially designed for railway systems. Further development of these planning tools take place in cooperation with research institutes and customers in order to use always the best technological methods for the solution of railway traffic problems. 

The programmes developed by IBS use a common data base i.e. data which are used for simulations can also be applied for other planning tasks. Furthermore, interfaces to standard window-based programmes are available.
