The program system FfZ is a comfortable tool to create station-diagrams. It uses existing
timetable data files (e.g. timetable data of DB AG or ÖBB) to collect the trains in the station. Then it creates automatically the desired diagram for the selected line and
time-of-operation.
The diagram for gates includes in a tabular form all the trains together with the days of operation and special options. The minimum running time are calculated automatically with respect to the position of the gate and the distances to the next stations.
The stations diagram includes the tracks of the stations and the occupation of the tracks by the trains. The planner can either select the tabular or the graphical layout. Then he can make his changes. By comfortable masks he is able to change the track occupation, the connection of trains and to edit comments of the
trains.
The system can be used for simple stopping points, stations of each size and also for
complete lines, which are operated by electronically signal box technologies. The resulting
documents can either be printed on a printer or can be saved in electronical form (e.g. pdf-file).
The planner is supported by numerous functions. Changes in the timetable data (e.g. Re-routing of trains) are imported into the
documents automatically. Various “lists of changes” are provided to focus the planners attention to these points. With aid of special algorithms also double-usage of tracks and conflicts in paths can be
detected.
Also special operational situations (e.g. barring of tracks) can be input into the system. The
planner can block tracks and reroute the affected trains via alternative paths. The system is used by the German Railway on about 100 working places.
