Based on SIMU the BAUPLAN system was developed as a special planning tool for maintenance-site timetable design. It allows a computer-aided planning of "maintenance-site timetables" showing the operation run in case of barring of tracks or speed restrictions due to construction terms.

Based on the regular timetable first of all those trains are selected from the current timetable data base which will be affected by the maintenance-site. After determination of barrings and speed restrictions BAUPLAN carries out automatically timetables for a temporary single-track operation, calculates the necessary running time and determines the running time losses of the respective trains. Furthermore, users can change the timetable interactively e.g. additional stops, rerouting of trains or establishing bus services. The results of those plannings can be printed out as graphics or as tables for further evaluations.
